Rural Futures welcomes institutional collaborations with universities, research centers, foundations, and cultural organizations seeking a rigorous, place-based platform in which teaching, research, and public culture can converge. Our partnerships are grounded in a shared concern for how architecture, urbanism, landscape, ecology, and cultural heritage interact—shaping not only the form of settlements, but also the everyday conditions of living, working, and stewarding territory.


We understand “partnership” as more than hosting a program: it is a framework for co-producing knowledge. Together with partner institutions, we can develop research agendas and educational pathways that connect academic inquiry to field realities—rural villages facing demographic decline, productive landscapes, water systems, heritage sites, and evolving urban–rural relationships. Our goal is to support work that is analytically robust and ethically situated: attentive to local capacities, governance structures, and the ecological limits that condition any design proposition.


Partnership formats may include:

  • Memoranda of understanding (MoU) and long-term academic cooperation frameworks

  • Co-designed research initiatives and funded projects (including field campaigns and dissemination)

  • Joint studios/seminars integrated into existing curricula (credit and assessment aligned with your institution)

  • Co-hosted conferences, exhibitions, publications, and public programs

  • Visiting lectures, guest critics, and expert networks connecting academia with local institutions and practitioners

Rural Futures can contribute on-the-ground coordination and academic scaffolding: access to local interlocutors and sites, methodological support for mapping and field inquiry, and curatorial capacity for public-facing outputs. Where appropriate, we also assist with institutional requirements (timelines, documentation, budgeting frameworks) to make collaboration operationally smooth and academically coherent.
